my first UT football game...

lots of people take babies to football games, don't they? well, my parents did - - and it sure was fun! the UT football team has a practice game each spring, so we went to check it out today, and i was such a good boy! at first i took a nap, even through the cannons and loud announcer guy. and then i woke up and watched the game with mommy and daddy for a while and had a great time. it was a little overcast and i was wearing a sweatshirt, but underneath was my UT onesie from SELT. although mommy says no one looks good in burnt orange, she lets me wear it anyway. here are some pictures... that last one is of mack brown and the team - cool! that was a lot of activity for the day, so i've mostly been taking naps otherwise. other things going on: my hair has finally grown back on the top of my head, although it's still very light and fine. and you can see that my cheeks are getting quite round! sometimes it looks like i'm a chipmunk with a full stash, but i'm not a chipmunk. i'm just a little boy with big cheeks. um... a new cousin of mine was born a few days ago and i'm excited about that! his name is wyatt and he's the son of adam and jeri matthys, and hopefully we'll get to visit him soon so i can show him cool tricks like putting my fist in my mouth and drooling. that's all for now. bye!

happy easter! we had a great day sunday (grammy and grandpa were here, and aunt mandy, and lots of other cool people in daddy's family) and a great weekend overall. i met holly, my mom's friend, and she was really neat. i'm not sure why mom didn't take any pictures of us together - she apologizes. i was a really good boy on sunday and took lots of naps, and yesterday too. i'm getting better at that, which is good for everyone. :)

last time i talked about how i have been smiling a lot, and i've been doing it so much that i'm getting really good at it, see...

yesterday was a good day too, getting back to the "normal" schedule with mommy and daddy. dad read me a story, which is always fun. and i practiced standing and walking some more. i still have to wear bibs all the time because i'm a slobber and spit-up machine. mom is sad that she has to hide my cute outfits, but it's better than changing me every 20 minutes. i got a lot of clothes for baby gifts, but not quite that many!

anyway, back to playing with mommy... happy day!

happy birthday grampee...

it's my grampee's birthday today - happy birthday grampee! i wish i could be in indiana to celebrate with you and slobber on you, but i'm not quite ready to travel that far yet. but grampee, i wanted to let you know i was thinking of you on your special day! see - -

i'm still working on my spelling and penmanship, but i think that's still pretty good for my age. and it looks like i only have one arm, but that's because i'm waving at you! :) i hope you have a great day, especially since it's your 60th birthday - woohoo! i hear that 60 is the new 40, so no worries about being that age. does that mean that 2 months is the new 2 weeks? mom hopes not, because she's not ready to do that all over again! anyway, i'm looking forward to seeing you again soon - very soon, i hope!! love you!

mommy and me...

hello. i had a great weekend with daddy and mommy! we went to home depot and took a walk outside and played with toys... watched UT basketball with daddy while mom made cookies... went to church and saw some of my friends there, and played with another friend who came over to our house. now it's back to monday and it's just mommy and me. we love to hang out together - here are some pictures of us... she kisses me a lot and likes to snuggle with me...

all things considered, she's pretty cool to hang out with, and she sure does like me a lot too...

we have a pretty good week ahead. we're getting ready for a visit from one of mommy's friends from "back home" - holly! i've heard a lot about her and am excited to meet her. i've already met brent and thought he was pretty cool, and hopefully i'll met the others soon too. anyway, we have some cleaning up to do around the house, so i'll try to help out with the chores. i was going to help daddy mow and mulch yesterday, but then i decided to take a nap instead. oops! sorry dad. it's easter week too, so we'll be going to church... and eating cadbury eggs - yum! and we'll be enjoying the nice weather, as usual. if SELT is reading this, feel free to just drive here instead of panama city on wednesday. there are some houses for sale nearby that i think you should check out. :)

i wanted to try posting a video so you can see me in action, so mommy filmed me when i was waking up from a nap the other day, and i was really, really cute. but for some reason the video wouldn't upload correctly, so we'll have to keep working on that... here's a still picture of it, but it's not nearly as cute. sorry!

in any case, i've really been doing a lot of fun things lately, like smiling a lot and playing games with my parents. my favorite is "peek-a-ben" and i also like it when they tickle me. i also really like to grab onto toys and clothes and things like that. my parents say i'm really good at holding my head up on my own and that i'm very strong for my age. i like to practice putting weight on my feet and holding myself up too. and i've started making a lot more noises, or happy noises i should say. i have always made lots and lots of grunting noises, but i'm cooing and laughing a lot now, which makes mommy and daddy happy too. but don't worry, i still grunt plenty. i also still wave my hands and feet a lot - i rarely sit still unless i'm full and tired, but mommy says that means i'm stretching and growing a lot and maybe will be a good athlete when i'm big.

yesterday was daddy's birthday, so i made an apple pie for him (okay, okay, mommy helped some). but that's about all for now. we'll try to get the video post to work, or you could just visit me in person and that would be more fun. :) bye!

first road trip...

hi again. so, i took my first official road trip last weekend with mom and dad - we went to see my grammy and grandpa in cuero, tx, which is about two hours away. i slept in the car the whole way there and the whole way home - mom said i was such a good boy for that. and i had a great time at their house, although i was a little fussy and wanted to eat a lot. but it was fun to get to hang out with them, and i met new relatives too - aunt carol and uncle gary. they are really nice. here's a picture of daddy getting me settled into the car seat...

haha - just kidding! actually, those pictures are from a few weeks ago and that's not even the car seat we took! but you get the idea. :) mommy made a rare blunder and didn't take any pictures of me on our road trip and so we had to improvise with these. but in any case, it was fun and we didn't even have to rent a u-haul to carry all of my baby stuff! hopefully i was a good enough boy that i will get to go on a farther trip sometime, like maybe to indiana. :)

otherwise, mommy and i are back to our usual stuff this week. not much else to report. i think i'll go work on my long division and maybe read a few books. bye!

6 weeks old...

So, I'm 6 weeks old now and finally had a chance to update my blog. I've been really busy since I was born and didn't have a chance to write yet, but Mommy has been taking lots of pictures of me, and those pretty much tell the story so far. The first week of my life was so special because I got to meet a lot of my relatives, so I was really thankful for that. And I've already gone through a couple growth spurts and now Mommy and Daddy are really starting to figure me out. I do cry every now and then, but otherwise I try to be a really good boy. And when I'm not so good, at least I'm cute and Mommy forgives me right away. :) Right now I'm really into eating, playing with links and a few other toys, listening to stories, eating, going with Mommy to run errands, spitting up, and eating. Life is great. It's too exciting though, and so I don't really like to take naps... unless Mom sticks me in the carseat and takes me on a ride - I usually can't fight it any longer then and will finally sleep. But otherwise my parents are so cool that I like to stay up and hang out with them. :) During the day I get to hang out with Mommy all the time, which is super fun, and then I love when Daddy gets home from work and I can play with him too. It's also been really warm here lately, so we go on walks outside a lot. I love doing that! Otherwise, I can't wait to see my relatives again, and meet some new ones too! I know I'm so blessed to have such a great family, and I'm already enjoying being spoiled! This is fun... Bye!
