new shoes!

in the words of paolo nutini - "i put some new shoes on, and suddenly everything is right!"

hello again! so, we finally went shoe shopping for some "real" shoes (with a big, clunky sole, of course) to replace my nice soft "baby" shoes. and i really like them! they're a lot better for playing outside, climbing at the playground, and just walking in general. mommy says i still don't have to wear shoes when we run errands (if i won't be walking myself), but any time i'll be doing the walking, i now have some big boy shoes to do it in. :) yahoo! here's some pictures of the first time i walked in them... i like to navigate this tiny "step" in our garage because it's actually a step i can do by myself!

okay, enough shoe pictures for now. they're really not that exciting, but mommy thinks they're so cute because they're so little!! she wishes i would stay this size forever (but still learn to talk and potty train and all that)... :)
i guess the shoes are the big excitement around here (we don't get out much!). here i am sitting in a plastic bin (another one mom took to show how little i am still - she's holding on to my "little-ness" as long as she possibly can because she knows one day we're all going to wake up and i'll be taller than her!)...
here i am kissing the "baby" in a mirror on one of my toys (from aunt mandy!). that baby is so cute!

and here's me and daddy last saturday morning hanging out in our pj's... (note - fashionable recliner still for sale! priced to move!)

ooh - and here's my new jacket! normally we don't get this excited about new "stuff" (because it all gets drooled on anyway!) but mommy loved this jacket since - you guessed it - it's so little! i keep telling her i'm a big boy now, but she loves how i can wear big people things that are still in little people sizes. very fun. anyway, i think it's rained in austin about 4 times my whole life, so i don't foresee myself wearing this a bunch, but just in case we find outselves at a beach or something, i'll be ready. :)

i apologize for all these pictures of me not really doing anything very exciting. i think it was a combination of the hood and the angle of these photos and mommy made me put them up here because she keeps saying she could almost eat me and she wants people to see why...
okay, enough of that. :) one of my favorite games is still "peek-a-ben" and here i am playing it with daddy and mommy while hiding in my closet...
where's ben?
peek-a-ben!!
that provides several consecutive minutes of entertainment nearly every day!! and when we get bored being inside, we usually take a ride in my birthday wagon (from SELT - thank you!).

it's more fun than my stroller and allows me to really stretch out and relax - note my arm over the edge and foot up on the cup holder! (photo courtesy of daddy's phone.)

since it's been hot here this week, i got to wear shorts and a t-shirt for the first time in a really, really long time! mommy snapped these to fight off the urge to start munching on my arms and legs (whew - close call, though!).

okay, sorry if this blog wasn't as exciting as usual. things are really good and we're just enjoying being outside and having fun together. ooh - also, i can say "ball" and "look" now and am working on adding more words to my verbal repertoire (clearly i'm doing fine with my written words). :) hope everyone else is doing good too and i'll talk to you again soon! bye!

fun at the park...

hello! there's not really any major news to report today, but we wanted to share some pictures of fun at the park down the street in our neighborhood. it's getting warm here again, so mommy and i have been going there a lot more. i have a great time climbing around the playground, chasing other kids (or dogs!), and just being outside. there's lots more pictures below but first i have to share this funny picture, dedicated to grampee and uncle scott. :)

um... what else? i have 14 teeth now and continue to try all kinds of new foods. sometimes i am a picky eater, but i'm not too bad. i love to play in mommy's sock drawer and dump everything on the floor. i also love to put things in one of the bathtubs (either empty or full of water, doesn't matter to me...). we got to see mimsie and grandpa the weekend before last, and that was a lot of fun! i like to kick the ball outside and i love to read books. i used to just like to eat them, bang on them, or turn the pages, but now i actually sit still and listen when someone reads to me! :) i love to play the harmonica, recorder, and kazoo. and i like to pull string-toys behind me from room to room. oh wait - yes! big news! i am saying my first word other than "dada" or "mama" - it's "book" - yahoo!! i actually pronounce it "booh" but that's what i mean. very cool.

okay, enough talking. here are the pictures...

(this was me when it was time to leave)

okay, that's all. bye!!

viva san antonio!

hello from san antonio! mom and dad and i had a great time on our first mini-vacation as a little family. we have loads of pictures to share, but first an update on my spots...

as you can see, they got even worse and so mommy took lots of pictures. they itched a little bit and looked funny, but i survived and am now back to normal - yahoo! here's a picture of my bohiny that mommy couldn't help but take and include here. before long this kind of stuff will be inappropriate on the internet (eek!) but i'm still young enough that it's okay. :) plus who can resist that round little tooshy?!

okay, now for a recap on our san antonio fun! at first we went to the alamo...
the alamo itself was cool and all, but you have to be quiet inside and aren't allowed to touch anything, so i didn't go in. that was fine with me though, because i just wanted to play outside and explore!

how cool is this tree? the branches are so big and heavy that wire cables are actually used to support them. weird...

here i am eating a rock in front of a really big cactus (note: i did not try to eat the cactus)...

this is one of about 700 shots of me chasing this bird. his name was pedro. he wasn't scared of me and so i followed him all over! it was cute. but eventually i got a little too close and he did fly away. adios pedro!

more pictures...

this was at a mexican restaurant where we ate on saturday. i was amazed by the giant mural of famous hispanics...
then the waiter spilled salsa all over mommy! it got all over her shirts and jeans. i couldn't believe it!

it turned out okay, though, because the manager gave her this killer t-shirt for free, to replace her gap sweater. score! just what she wanted. when i hit puberty, i think i will grow a mustache like the nice muchacho on mommy's shirt... ole.

here i am "bonking" a giant bear (don't worry - it was stuffed!). i "bonk" something with my forehead like this when i like it and want to show affection. usually i do this to people, but i also do it to stuffed animals now, and even hard plastic toys sometimes. anyway, i really liked this bear and i think he liked me too...

okay, that's all for now. there are lots more pictures from our weekend. you can check them out at www.picasaweb.google.com/rachel.lehman. mommy hasn't uploaded them quite yet, but she will soon. so check there when you want to see more of me! and a special note to mimsie and grandpa - can't wait to see you on friday!!!!!!!!!!!! :) bye, everyone!
