on the road again... part three...

okay, part three of three of our road trip to indiana... here are some pictures of our visit to the st louis arch, which was totally cool! while we waited for our tram to the top, i found a fun bar to swing on!

and here are some pictures of the arch in case you haven't seen it in a while... pretty cool, huh?

after a ride with me, mom, dad, and 3 adult strangers in one of the smallest transportation devices i've ever seen in my life (even smaller than a smart car, it seemed), the view at the top was really neat!

but then i found out we had to ride in that tram thing again to get down, and i was not so sure about that (and i did even cry for a little bit, but not too long - i'm telling you it was really small!)...
this was a pretty walk we took around the arch area...

and here i am back at our downtown hotel...

it was here (although not specifically on the windowsill, as you might have guessed) that the infamous collar bone breakage occurred. sadly, i've been trying to come up with a great story for how it happened, but to no avail (at least not a believable story). i wish it was something like i jumped in front of a car to save an old lady, or i was climbing a tree to rescue a cat, or even i was just playing football with the guys. but no, i just fell out of the hotel bed in the middle of the night - lame. it's a long story, because i was supposed to be sleeping in my own travel bed anyway, and mommy doesn't really like me to talk about it, since she holds herself responsible... but in any case, i fell out of the bed, cried a lot in the night, and then we went on with the rest of our weekend. i whined about it some but i was pretty tough and mom and dad didn't really think there was anything wrong since i had no bruising or swelling. finally, two days after we got home (nearly a week later!) when i was still complaining about my "neck, neck" mom took me in for x-rays, and sure enough, it was broken! it's not too bad though and will just heal on it's own, so no big deal. in fact, by the time i'm writing this, i almost don't even notice it anymore and am back to swinging, somersaulting, and rescuing old ladies and cats.
but back to our road trip... this is where it gets bad because i have NO good pictures to show for any of our remaining fun - super lame!! we made it to indiana early the next day (now friday) and got to see beamee, grampee, and SELT, play at the hotel, and go get ice cream at the culver's next door! i saw lots of mommy's friends too, because they were all there for the wedding of the century - megan and scott eells!! mommy and daddy were both in the wedding and were very busy from this point on, so that's why there are no pictures. but i had LOADS of fun with my relatives and even made a tiny appearance at the reception... this is the embarrassingly useless photo of me there, but you can kind of see my cute tie, and it's the only option, so what can ya do?

finally on sunday morning, it was time to head back to texas. we had a nice, leisurely drive up (remember the park in oklahoma?) but had to book it home pretty fast, but i was still really good in the car most of the time. this is what happens when you're driving so much and trying to make good time and then realize you're nearly out of gas in the middle of nowhere...

and this is what happens when mommy sits in the backseat to share her dairy queen blizzard...

good times...

on the road again... part two...

...back again as promised, with more road trip stories and pictures... we ended up making it into missouri on the first day and stayed in a hotel for the night. even after only a day in the car, i was off to a bad start of eating and mommy was nervous that all her homemade goodies (muffins, pbj's, etc) were being passed up for wheat thins and cheesy bunnies, so by thursday at breakfast, she was ready for me to have some "real" food - so cracker barrel it was! we decided to break our no-chains rule in order for me to enjoy my favorite food "utma" (oatmeal) and the CB right across the street seemed like a safe bet. i loved their gift shop and even got to pick out a cool, metal digger truck. coincidentally, it's just like this one, only much smaller...

that was actually me and daddy at one of the coolest places i've ever been - the st louis children's museum (also called "the magic house"). we drove to st louis by mid-day on thursday and spent several hours having fun and learning cool things at the museum...

this was actually a real-life beanstalk that spanned 3 levels and was perfect for climbing - so cool!

and right in the middle of our day, daddy had to take a very important call for work (if you click on the picture, it will get bigger, and then you can see his very serious face). recognize the room? it's the Oval Office!...

this was my masterpiece of a poem that we "planted" on the tree... (you can make this one bigger too and see that it says "hook em," so you know who helped me write this one)...
me and mommy climbing through a high tunnel in order to get to a great curly slide...

giant wall of "pins"...

on the upper right, that's my hand, and then mommy's and daddy's...

afterwards i was pretty tired, and just ready for some snuggles with mommy...

here's a picture from the outside (and this was only part of it!)...

good times...

well, that's all for part two... next time i'll talk about the rest of our fun in st louis: visiting the arch, seeing one of mommy's friends, and yes, breaking my collar bone (that really did happen, but i'm okay, so no worries)... thanks for checking in and stay tuned for the third and final installment SOON!!! :)

on the road again... part one...

boy is my face red - - i will start by addressing the giant elephant in the room and say i am so, terribly sorry for not updating the blog sooner. i can't even be sure that there's anyone left out there checking this anymore, but just in case, let me do say that i am sorry for my lack of recent posts and i fully intend to do better in the future. however, it's not like i've just been sitting around eating bon-bons or anything! we've been pretty busy, but that's all the more reason to keep you updated! i actually would like to clear my name just a bit by saying that it's really mommy's responsibility to edit the pictures so that i can blog about them, and that's what has really been causing the delay. she asked me to convey her apologies too, and actually wishes that bon-bon eating was her excuse. in any case, let us blog...

the biggest thing that happened since i last posted was our road trip to indiana! i was really good in the car and we had a great time getting there, staying there, and coming home. we actually had loads of pictures, and mommy has only gone through about half of them. so here's the beginning of the story from the trip with a few pictures to tide you over, and we'll post the rest later...

we started off on wednesday morning and i was feeling pretty good riding along with all my friends. by the afternoon, we were still only in oklahoma and i was ready for a break. well what do you know, we were stopped at a light in a tiny town and saw a park on our left, so we stopped and played a while! :)

and later that day we stopped at a small diner and had some yummy food. we always try to eat at local restaurants when we travel (no chains) and so far both our stops were great. things were going well...

...well folks, that's all for this edition - are you on the edge of your seats? stay tuned soon (i mean that!) for more on our trip, including:
- the st louis arch
- an awesome children's museum
- how i broke my collar bone
- daily breakfast at cracker barrel for the rest of the trip
- seeing beamee, grampee, and selt
- and more!! :)
