how many pictures of luke's face...

...do you want to see in 2 consecutive blog posts? if it's a lot, then stick around, because we're full of them!! :)

hi there, it's ben. we're still catching up on pictures and we're only on early january - eep!! apparently i was a little boring around here then, because momma loaded up on a lot of luke pictures. he is pretty cute, though, so i'm hoping you don't mind. apparently he thought i was boring too...

okay, okay, i'm hardly boring! i still keep momma on her toes all the time, and we continue to have fun and learn a lot with our themes/words/letters. i'm getting really good at recognizing what letter different words start with. if you ask me what any word starts with, i can almost always get the answer right!! just don't ask me any hard words like phone, czar, or eulogy. otherwise, i'm pretty good. :)
during our cold spell (which was about six weeks long at the beginning of the year but is thankfully over!!), we did a lot of crafts and puzzles inside. aunt chris gave me this giraffe puzzle a while ago, but i still love it and play with it frequently. the last time we put it together, i also wanted to make grass, a tree, and leaves for it to eat...

i've started using scissors on my own now and am fairly good at making small cuts on regular paper. i can even do it while staring off into space and wagging my tongue (not mom-approved)...

meanwhile, luke continues to survive on cuteness and adorable eyes rather than any meaningful skills whatsoever. his favorite pasttime is - obviously - eating. food is typically preferred, but he's found that blankie will do in a pinch...

actually, he tries to eat blankie pretty much any chance he gets, whether that's in bed while napping or sleeping, or just lounging around during a fussy period. he immediately shoves as much blankie into his mouth as possible, and munches away until he reaches this drunken state of blankiness...
this is luke telling momma, "no photographs, please. i'd like to be alone with my blankie!"

momma forgets what he's looking at in this picture, but she thought it was a cute profile shot and requested that it be included...

i guess luke does have one other skill - growing a mullet. he somehow managed to grow some long, but very sparse and light colored (almost blonde!) hairs at the bottom of his head. as you've been seeing, the top of his head is still nearly bald, but i promise you that a mullet has gradually been developing on my brother and was recently captured in action on the floor of the local b&n play area, while sporting a very mountain-man looking plaid shirt to match (thank you, beamee, super cute by the way, and very handy during those cold weeks!)...

anyway, long story short - the mullet is gone.

stay tuned next time for a january close-out post and other news on the matthys home front. bye!! :)

back on catching up...

hello there again... we're back on catching up with posts and pictures after that crazy snow here! january and february have actually been a lot colder than normal in texas (and everywhere, as most of you know!), but we've still been having fun as usual. here we are all bundled up before some errands - mom sure does love an excuse to get her boys in cute, little hats...

sometimes we go to barnes and noble to hang out, but lately i've been a book-eating monster at home. to prevent me from eating the books at b&n, sometimes momma just keeps me in the stroller. i'm a good baby, though, and am pretty laid back (although i do have a problem keeping my shoes and socks on!)...
i'm also very good in shopping carts too and have really been developing such a fun, little personality (if i do say so myself)...
of course ben still has his huge personality. here he is plowing me over to go after some candy in the grocery store check-out line...
he knows that is against the rules, so i was shocked to see him disobey (okay, not really, but luckily mom was in a good mood that day and didn't get him in trouble since we were just having fun)...

back at home it's been hard to just stay inside and play. one day ben wanted to do some chalk out on the back deck, so momma let him go outside by himself. that didn't last long. here's his face as he's begging momma to let him back inside (it was probably only in the 40's that day - we are wimps!)...

sometimes he gives me rides in the laundry hamper...

and somehow we found a video on youtube of a chipmunks (yes, as in alvin and the chipmunks) version of the "witchdoctor" song. we like watching different videos on youtube - usually of wild animals but lately of the chipmunks! and we all love music, so we've been listening to that song a lot. ben and momma made masks to go along with the song, so here's a picture of ben dancing with his mask on. this is actually really funny in person. please come visit for your own live performance...

here are some pictures of me waking up from a nap one day recently...

i didn't understand why momma wasn't just getting me out of my bed like she normally does...

but i was happy when she was finally done taking pictures!

i sure do love that momma (especially because i know how much she loves me)...

and speaking of love, happy valentine's day to all my ladies out there. :)
we still have several more posts of catching up to do, so we'll talk to you again soon. hope you are all doing well! bye!! :)

hi there, snow what's new?

hi, ben here for our second update of the week! i don't have anything major to report but just wanted to give you a look at our day, snow here we go... this is what i saw outside the window this morning when i woke up - just another typical day here in austin, texas...

luke is cute and snuggly when he first wakes up, snow he was just hanging out on the bed...

after breakfast, i decided i wanted to play outside to get some fresh air, snow out we went!

daddy got to stay home from work today, snow he went outside with me and momma too! that was fun. :)

momma and i have been missing the ice cream truck lately, snow i think she was looking to see if it was coming up our street...

i still stick my tongue out a lot, snow momma always likes to get a picture of me doing that in case i ever stop. i probably won't stop though. i'll be fifty years old working as a who-knows-what, sticking my tongue out anytime i have to think hard about something important...

sometimes i make crusty faces too though, snow here's what i look like doing that...

after about 20 minutes of playing outside, i was ready to go in. i kept telling momma but she wanted to stay out longer and take more pictures of our regular, old day. eventually i just got impatient and snow i made this face to let her know i was serious...

luke was taking a nap while we were outside, snow it was nice to see him again once we came back in. just a regular, old day for luke too, but he's pretty cute snow i wanted to include some pictures of him...

okay, that's all for now. we still have lots more to catch up, snow stop by again soon! bye!!!

catching up...

okay, we're doing a series of posts to catch up on over-due pictures. first up, pictures of me from the end of december - yikes!

here's a shot of one of my rare non-smiling or non-wondering faces...

this is much more like normal... :)

momma loves to munch on my cute, little feet, and i even took this picture of her - impressed?! :) ...

sometimes i wake up before ben from our afternoon naps and momma and i get a little bit of time to ourselves. here we are being silly. momma says, "love you, luke"...

love you too, momma...

another serious faces shot...

okay, momma, i'm getting a little bored with this...

here's what my thighs look like. you might call them a little bit chubby, but momma calls them yummy. :)

a striking resemblance to one of those giant turkey legs you get at the county fair...

more just playing around...

all done. :) bye!!
(p.s. happy anniversary to daddy and momma!! 4 years!!)
