imagine whirled peas... and peaches...

had a great time at mimsie and grandpa's last weekend! i got to see a lot of relatives and i like them quite a bit. :) this week has been busy. i've done a lot of shopping with mom. perhaps she forgot i was a boy and that boys don't like to shop as much as girls. i gave her a break, though, and was really well-behaved at all the stores because i like to sit up in the cart and chew on things. here's the rest of my week...

i like to wear things on my head.

mommy introduced me to peas. i loved them the first day but not so much the second. so she tried peaches instead. at first i played it cool.

but they were too sour for me and i just couldn't take it anymore.

so i decided to fake sick and see if that would make her stop.

it didn't. and then she went back to the peas, as if no one told her that since i did not like the peas by themselves or the peaches by themselves, i certainly was not going to like them both together. at this point i began to wonder who this lady was that beared a striking resemblance to my mom but clearly was not her.

and finally i decided to eat the camera instead.

that's all for me. bye!

more teeth!

hi! i'm happy to report that i officially have another tooth! it's one on top this time, but it's not in the middle, it's off to the side. mom says it's a fang and i'll probably look like dracula for a while. i'm not sure what that means. anyway, the other "fang" is going to the poke through any day now too, so that's exciting. i'll ask mom to try and take a picture once they both are growing strong. teething isn't too bad i guess - i sleep a little more than usual, but it's nice that i can sit up now and reach for toys to chew on.

we're going to mimsie and grandpa's this weekend - yes! grandpa is in a play (he's a thespian!) but i don't get to see it because it happens at night and i have to go to sleep. but i've heard he's really good, and i'll play with him on saturday. i can't wait to see them again. :)

okay, that's all for now. i will report back after the weekend and let you know how my teeth are doing and what new foods i'm eating. plus mimsie and grandpa got new wood floors that i'm really excited about. when i play on our kitchen counter (supervised, of course!) i can scoot myself around and even "crawl" a bit, so i'm looking forward to having a bigger surface to practice on. okay bye.

toes... yum...

hi. i'm 6 months old. yea!!

well, i'm happy to report that i can now put my toes in my mouth with ease. i discovered my feet a while ago and i like playing with them, but i recently noticed what a great snack my toes are. all along they've been at the end of my feet looking cute - who knew they tasted so good? and although my thighs are a bit on the chunky side, i can usually reach my feet to my mouth in just the right spot for chewing. yes!

i'm actually having quite a good time with my feet lately. the other day i figured out how to get them between the rails of my crib so that my leg dangles out.

the only bad part is that i haven't figured out how to get my feet back into the crib, so sometimes i just fall asleep like that. i don't even cry about it or anything because it doesn't seem like a big deal to me, but mommy says i shouldn't do that because i might hurt myself. sorry mommy. i actually did it so many times that daddy had to secure cardboard around the edges of the crib so that i wouldn't keep doing it. those parents are on to me...
okay, that's all. it's really hot here. but i'm drinking water out of a sippy cup now, so that's fun. we need to go swimming again. i miss the pool! for now, the bathtub will have to suffice.

two more milestones...

well, i'm almost 6 months old now, and so i've decided it's time to take on some new challenges. i started sitting up with help a while ago, but i was pretty wobbly at first. falling on my face was fun and all (and luckily it never hurt since i've got some padding around the edges!), but it was time to be a big boy. so after i endured that 17 hours in the car, i decided to sit up on my own. on july 5, i technically was sitting up for the first time, and by now it's pretty much my favorite thing to do.

mommy can't believe how much i'm growing and developing already, but she does think this is pretty cool because we can play more together - and when we're at the store, i can sit up in the front of the cart instead of being pinned in my car seat! yes!! :) i love my new view of things and i pick up anything that is set in front of me and put it right in my mouth. woohoo!

my other big news is that i've finally started eating solids! i've actually been ready for a long time, but mommy kept putting it off because she was dreading the mess and things kept coming up. but once we got back from NC, she finally let me have at it. of course i would have rather started with ice cream or at least some pudding, but instead she said i'm supposed to start with rice cereal for atleast a little while. as usual, at first i wasn't quite so sure...

but after a few bites, i was a pro! i had been looking forward to eating for so long and was ready to dig right in and help myself!

mommy says i'm not really ready for that yet, and so i let her help me, but it sure was fun. hopefully i can move on from the liquid cardboard soon and get on to the real stuff. :) i'll keep you posted on how that's going.

okay, that's all for now. lots of new things to keep practicing! bye!

my summer vacation...

well, hello again! sorry for my brief hiatus, but i've been a busy little guy! mommy and daddy and i were gone for 11 days - whew - but now we're back home again with stories to tell of my first summer vacation. :) we had such a great time and had many adventures along the way - here's what happened...

we started off our trip by flying to indiana on july 2. by now i had this airplane stuff down and was such a good boy. things were going great...

we spent a few days there and then drove to north carolina on july 4 to start our beach vacation. mommy and daddy were nervous about driving for 14 hours with a 5-month old, and i don't blame them. i wasn't so sure it was a good idea either! i can handle the car-seat for trips to the store and buzzing around town, but honestly, 14 hours? i thought they had lost their minds. but - life is an adventure and so we decided to head for the hills anyway. grampee said i would be a good boy, and so i didn't disappoint. :) we all piled into the truck and van (1 grampee, 1 beamee, 2 aunts, 1 uncle, 3 girl cousins, 1 mommy, 1 daddy, 1 me, 27 beach towels, and a partridge in a pear tree). the car trip started off well. aunt aimee and i really hit it off...

then around 10:30am, after 4 hours on the road, i decided to get an eye infection, just to mix things up a bit. you can see how worked up i was about it...

mommy caught it early, called the doctor, and we picked up some medicine at a kentucky walgreens to save the day. yahoo! by 2:10pm i was back to my usual self. on the road again...

by 5:00pm i was getting a little restless, as was the rest of the group. i was bummed that mommy wouldn't let me have taco bell, but aunt elaina and aimee cheered me up.

by this time i was over the car ride but tried to hang in there as best i could. we finally made it to raleigh to stay over for the night. yea!! the next day i met uncle greg for the first time. he helped me stretch and walk around, so i liked him a lot.

much to my dismay, i soon realized we still had a 3-hour drive to the beach, and back into the car-seat i went - augh! i handled it pretty well though, and i think mommy was actually the one that couldn't wait to get there...

of course it was all worth it, though! we were finally at the beach - - and i LOVED it!! we had a great week together and i really loved being with my relatives. the sand and ocean were really neat and i liked swimming in the pool too. here are some more pictures to tell the story...

at the end of our beach trip, mommy and daddy and i went to UNC and Duke because we had a few extra hours to spend before heading to the airport. that was a lot of fun too.

and then finally we flew home. i was ready to get back to austin, but i had a great time in NC and will definitely miss everyone.

now it's back to mommy and me. i'll be sure to update the blog again soon with some other fun things i've been up to lately, so check back again! bye!
