our latest endeavour (pun intended!)...

hi - it's ben.  listen to this - we got to see the space shuttle Endeavour this week!!  isn't that so cool (despite our very serious faces in the picture above)?  it was flying from florida to california (on top of a modified 747 airplane) and made a stop in houston on wednesday, so momma hauled all three of us to ellington field to watch it fly over and land!!  sometimes she can barely get all of us to the grocery store and back without tears and breakdowns - but she had a spontaneous hunch that morning that it was the thing to do, and so we all piled in after breakfast and made the trek south.  we even made it to ellington early and had some time to play on the railroad tracks as we were waiting with lots and lots of other people that came to see it too.  luke and i are looking pretty goofy here but we were really good as we waited for it to come...

we got to watch it fly around the clear lake area for quite a while and then had a front row seat to watch it land right over our heads!!  mom took videos of it and not very many pictures, so this one doesn't do it justice, because it was right over our heads and was SO cool (and loud!)...

we LOVED it!!  we even ran into an old friend of momma's from nasa and went to eat lunch with his family, then we came back to ellington later and made the trek to see the shuttle and airplane a little closer.  and believe it or not, we ran into another friend of momma's there too!  she and her kids walked around with us and helped us out a lot. luke even made friends with the cute girl pretty quickly...

but luke was really too young for her, so i made my move a bit later.  i tend to go for the tween girls any time i meet a new one (much to momma's amazement because she did not realize this happened at age 4!!)...

but alas, my older woman and i soon had to part and may never even meet again, but i was quickly distracted by this real, but retired, airplane on display on our way out.  luke and i loved playing around on this thing almost as much as seeing the shuttle land!

and let's give it up for sam, who was an awesome baby all day!  he cried about 2 minutes in the car in the long line of traffic, then fell asleep.  and he cried about 2 minutes in the stroller on our long, hot voyage out of ellington, then got in a good mood again.  this baby rules...

we fit in a starbucks stop on the way home, had zero tears shed by me and luke, and had no bickering or hard times either - whoa!!  this day was awesome.  we love it when a spontaneous adventure comes together.  :)    (and sadly, daddy was in austin at a meeting on this day, or we would have kidnapped him on the way, or at least stopped by his office on the way home to ride the elevator, which i wanted to do even though he wasn't even there.  momma had to say no to that one. maybe next time.)  check back again soon because we'll have more pictures and a good update of what else is going on with me, luke, and sam.  bye!

four months old!

hello there!  nice to see you.  :)  can you believe i'm already four months old??  sometimes it seems like i arrived just yesterday...  and other times it seems like i've been here all along...  :)    we have some pictures to share from august, so let's get started!  here i am looking all cute and cozy with blankie in my bed.  i'm now sleeping in my own room upstairs and sometimes i'll wake up from a nap and just lay there wondering where everyone went and what those brothers are up to and why is it so quiet in here??

i was sleeping pretty good and was almost sleeping through the night until - - i got sick.  feel free to "boooo" out loud at this point, if you want.  i have a bad cold, was pretty fussy after my vaccines last week, and may or may not be teething, so that all adds up to not much sleep for me and momma (and daddy, sad) lately.  they say money can't buy happiness.  but i heard momma mention that if we won the lottery, she would hire a night nanny, and that would at least buy her some sleep, which would in turn result in happiness, and so "they" are wrong.  thankfully my sweet face reminds momma that i'm worth it and she needs to just cherish these moments as best she can because i really will grow up so fast.  before she knows it, i'll be wearing her church shoes around the house and eating chocolate dipped fruit (THANK YOU, BEAMEE!!) on the porch...

and i'll probably be silly and wear winter hats around in the middle of summer...

and i'll definitely love doing craft projects with her, like using homemade puffy paint to create works of art...

so in the meantime, she gets by during the day with frappuccinos from starbucks and making cookies and brownies whenever she feels like it.  and she gets by during the night because i'm so, so sweet and cuddly, and she wants me to know how she'll always take care of me whenever i don't feel good.  and so that's why i still try to have a smile on my face as much as possible.  :)

and i'm really "talking" a lot more and i love chewing on anything i can get my hands on!  i'm fun to play with rolling around on the floor...

and ben and luke love on me and play with me as often as they can...

and so, cold or no cold, life is still pretty good, i have to say.  these people are fun and nice and silly and good at holding me, and i'm glad i decided to join them.  thanks for stopping by to see us and we'll try to report back again soon.  and lastly, as we say goodbye to summer (sort of, because it's still usually in the 90's here) and say hello to fall, this one's for daddy - hook 'em horns and go texans!!  :)
