four months old!

hello there!  nice to see you.  :)  can you believe i'm already four months old??  sometimes it seems like i arrived just yesterday...  and other times it seems like i've been here all along...  :)    we have some pictures to share from august, so let's get started!  here i am looking all cute and cozy with blankie in my bed.  i'm now sleeping in my own room upstairs and sometimes i'll wake up from a nap and just lay there wondering where everyone went and what those brothers are up to and why is it so quiet in here??  

i was sleeping pretty good and was almost sleeping through the night until - - i got sick.  feel free to "boooo" out loud at this point, if you want.  i have a bad cold, was pretty fussy after my vaccines last week, and may or may not be teething, so that all adds up to not much sleep for me and momma (and daddy, sad) lately.  they say money can't buy happiness.  but i heard momma mention that if we won the lottery, she would hire a night nanny, and that would at least buy her some sleep, which would in turn result in happiness, and so "they" are wrong.  thankfully my sweet face reminds momma that i'm worth it and she needs to just cherish these moments as best she can because i really will grow up so fast.  before she knows it, i'll be wearing her church shoes around the house and eating chocolate dipped fruit (THANK YOU, BEAMEE!!) on the porch...

and i'll probably be silly and wear winter hats around in the middle of summer...

and i'll definitely love doing craft projects with her, like using homemade puffy paint to create works of art...

so in the meantime, she gets by during the day with frappuccinos from starbucks and making cookies and brownies whenever she feels like it.  and she gets by during the night because i'm so, so sweet and cuddly, and she wants me to know how she'll always take care of me whenever i don't feel good.  and so that's why i still try to have a smile on my face as much as possible.  :)

and i'm really "talking" a lot more and i love chewing on anything i can get my hands on!  i'm fun to play with rolling around on the floor...

and ben and luke love on me and play with me as often as they can...

and so, cold or no cold, life is still pretty good, i have to say.  these people are fun and nice and silly and good at holding me, and i'm glad i decided to join them.  thanks for stopping by to see us and we'll try to report back again soon.  and lastly, as we say goodbye to summer (sort of, because it's still usually in the 90's here) and say hello to fall, this one's for daddy - hook 'em horns and go texans!!  :)

hi everyone!!  it's luke, here, and i'm sorry we haven't been around in a while - i've been so busy vacuuming!  

okay, that hasn't really been what's keeping me busy most of the time, but i do love helping momma vacuum!  we have been busy having summer fun and keeping up with that little baby of ours!  but we're here now with lots of pictures, so get ready!  first up are a few from a 4th of july outing we had.  we went to a parade and got balloon animals from a clown and had a good time...

and now we'll pretty much just move on to sam and how cute he's getting lately.  :)    ben and i are keeping busy with our usual summer stuff and don't even have any exciting pictures of that to share this time, and we figured that most of you are just here to see what sam looks like anyway, so here you go!

this is sam at exactly three months old.  can you believe how skinny this kid is (relatively speaking)?  apparently he didn't get the memo that matthys boy babies have previously all been chunky monkeys!  this kid is a shrimp boat and really needs to beef it up...

he sure does love to show off a cute smile, doesn't he?  but he also has some serious faces too...

again with the skinny-ness - you can see this kid's rib bones - what?!?  unheard of...

he's happy and healthy, though, and we're all thankful for that.  he also enjoyed his first playtime in the jumperoo recently!  a classic baby favorite around here...

and now the moment i'm super happy to mention is that we had some special visitors during the last part of july - aunt elaina, lauren, and taylor!!!  they came to play with us and help out with sam and we're so glad they did!  we don't have too many pictures but we sure did have a great time with them!  here are a few - ben and taylor on top of the playground - fun!

and lauren really liked holding sam (he's the easy one!)...

momma only partially likes sharing sam, though, and soaks up every minute of alone time with that sweet baby that she can - ahhhh...

he's pretty cute so we're going to keep him. and he really is getting some skills (finally!) too.  he's rolling over like crazy and can hold and chew on toys now!  he "talks" to us a little bit, which ben and i love. and he likes us to keep him entertained while momma is getting breakfast and lunch ready and gets excited when daddy comes home from work (i use the term "excited" loosely, but he does smile really big). we're still waiting on his first laugh, but he's sleeping pretty well most of the time and in general is a happy and sweet baby. yea for sam.  :)    and thanks for checking in!  bye!

summer update

hi everyone!  it's me, sam!!  :)  this is a picture of me from early june, before i was really smiling yet.  but keep reading and you'll see some really cute ones of my smile down below...

well, i'm back with an update on our summer so far.  it's been in the 200's and very humid for over a month now, so i don't get outside for very long at a time. but ben and luke still do and when daddy was home for a long weekend recently, we got out the boat pool again - yea! 

you may remember this from last year - a gift from beamee!  ben really loves it, especially spraying water out of it.  luke really wasn't so sure about it though. once he finally talked himself into just walking near it, he ran away! 

here he is staying close to daddy's side, too uneasy to get close again. but daddy called him a nancy...

...so he just ran over to momma instead... and of course she held him...

and here are some other fun things the big boys have been up to outside... it turns out that water and soap and buckets can entertain them for hours - yay!

and last year's planter box is still a hit but had to be moved inside so luke wouldn't throw beans everywhere in the yard...  (sweet luke would do that?  yes, sweet luke would do that...)

and here's ben playing with corn starch and water goo outside, which also was a huge hit with him!  that kid just loves to stir and mix and pretend to make food all the time...

so back inside, here i am making another silly non-smiling face several weeks ago...

you might have noticed that it looked like daddy was snoozing on the couch in the background of that photo above.  that seems strange that daddy would be getting an afternoon nap instead of momma and you might be wondering if it was just a weird camera angle... nope - here's proof! daddy was actually snoozing on the couch for a short afternoon nap!  unheard of!

i'm not sure what he's doing in this one, but it looks like he's ready to catch some spit up!  thankfully, thankfully, thankfully, i don't spit up very much at all (unlike my two brothers at this age), but they do think it's quite entertaining when i do, and especially when i poop.  sorry mom - this is what boys get a kick out of...

and now i'll close with some pretty cute pictures of luke and ben before i head off for a nap myself.  can you believe these goobers??

and finally luke wanted me to add that it's been a while since we've had some visitors and he expects some indiana (or north carolina!) love up in here very soon... or else...
